I specifically remember that this one was mostly put together in my head while skating around Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast on my long-board. I was just rattling out lines in my head and playing with trying to create verses that were a bit more visual and quirky – I was actually inspired by the metaphor-filled writing style of Regina Spektor. On top of that, I wanted to give it an old-school, hip-hop battle vibe in the flow and I decided to stick with the theme of simply being an artist as the main subject… Which would serve to barely hold it all together haha!
To be completely honest, I was more interested in having fun with writing fun visual descriptions and metaphors than making complete sense!
Once the verse were written, I wanted to stay with the quirky/fun vibes and, having already fallen head over heels in love with the style and talent of Karl S Williams (The man is a time machine of soul), I knew I wanted him to sing and play banjo on the track to make it truly complete. I couldn’t possibly be happier with the way it all turned out and I’m so glad to finally be sharing ths crazy project with you all!
